Is bread pakora healthy?

Bread Pakora is a delicious treat, but is it healthy?

Bread pakora is undeniably delicious snack but it is not typically considered a healthy food choice.

Let’s break down why:

  • Deep frying process

The main culprit is the deep-frying process.

This method of cooking of course increases the calorie and fat content of the pakora, particularly unhealthy saturated and trans fats.

And you know very well these fats can contribute to heart disease, high cholesterol, and weight gain.

  • Refined carbohydrates

White bread which is commonly used for pakoras, is a refined carbohydrate source.

It lacks fiber and essential nutrients. It causes blood sugar spikes and crashes, which can lead to increased hunger and overeating.

  • Potato filling:

The potato filling, while provides some vitamins and minerals It also adds the carbohydrate load and overall calorie count of the pakora.

  • Oil absorption:

The breading and frying process allows the pakora to absorb a significant amount of oil. It further increases its fat content.

Remember moderation is the key.

I know bread pakora are not the healthiest choice.

It can still be enjoyed occasionally as part of a balanced diet.

Be mindful of portion sizes and balance your intake with plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

Notes

Try to use less oil. More oil for frying would make the pakoras heavy.
I have used only potatoes for filling but you can also add other veggies such as chopped onion or bell peppers.
You should also check the level of spiciness in your pakoras filling and batter also. Everyone has their own taste preferences of course.
